BRATTON SIGNS WITH NCAA #16 UNIVERSITY OF WEST ALABAMA
November 11, 2008. Taylor Bratton a dominant Left Handed Pitcher with a mid 80's fastball and a great change-up has decided to join NCAA Division 2 Nationally Ranked #16 West Alabama. Earlier this fall Head Coach Gary Rundles flew up to Oakville, Ontario to look at the left hander. Following the visit from Coach Rundles, Taylor went on an official visit to West Alabama and upon his return decided to sign with the University.
Taylor will join two other Canadians at UWA, they are out fielder Brian Simone from Ontario and right handed pitcher Josh Turner from Alberta.
In 2008 the Tigers finished with a record of 45-13 and a trip to the NCAA South Central Regional, there second regional appearance in three seasons. The Tigers have had 40 wins or more the past three seasons, and tied the school record in 2008 with 45 wins.
Coach Rundles recognized that Taylor has a bright future followed by a huge upside as a left handed pitcher in the NCAA.

Colin Soltesz Commits to Spoon River C.C
November 13,2008 -- Left handed pitcher, Colin Soltesz, from the Oakville Royals 18's, has accepted a scholarship offer from Spoon River CC in Illinois. After a very successful Fall, in which Colin just got everyone out, at all levels of competition, during the fall, the unorthadox lefty has decided that Spoon River is the place for him.
Head Coach Robert Dotey was impressed at Colin's composure on the mound as well as the fact that he was able to shut the Spoon River offence down, when Colin pitched against them in September. Colin will be attending SPCC starting in January of 2009 and is looking forward to playing baseball for Coach Dotey at Spoon River.
The Oakville Royals would like to congratulate Colin and the Soltesz family for this latest achievement in his baseball career. We would also like to thank Coach Dotey for his interest in many of our Oakville Royal 18's, from our fall trip in September.

Lansing College Signs Four Royals
December 15/08 - It was announced this past week that Four Players from the Oakville Royals have decided to continue there education with Lansing College in Michigan. The four players Vince Cambruzzi, Aberdeen Chan, Jose Gallardo and Mile Pesa will be attending Lansing College in the fall. Head Coach Rod Sanville said "he is looking forward to having our players as impact guys and this has opened up the door to Canadian Players attending Lansing College."
Vince Cambruzzi a Left Handed Pitcher is looking forward to the opportunity to pitch For Lancing and should make a great impact on there pitching staff. Vince should have a chance to crack the starting rotation as a freshman.
Jose Gallardo a Right Handed Pitcher has showed great promise this fall and as he just converted to the pitching position. Jose was a catcher in the Royals Organization, but Coach Booth made the position change based on a few things he saw in the fall. Over the course of the last four months Jose has made great gains on the mound and is becoming a pitcher not a thrower.
Aberdeen Chan a shortstop with the Royals is looking to go into Lancing and compete at the shortstop position. Aberdeen made many gains this fall, but must continue to be constant to win the shortstop job.
Mile Pesa has been with the Royals for four seasons, and has been a big part of the building process. Mile goes into Lansing playing center field and should be an impact player from the start of the fall season.
Coach Booth says "I look for big things out of all of these players. I believe they will represent the royals and there families very well during this opportunity."

Forte Signs with NJCAA # 4 Parkland College
January 14 2009. Daniel Forte a power hitting right fielder has decided to pursue his education at the Parkland College in Champaign, IL. Daniel Returned to the Oakville Royals this past fall and has made an immediate impact in the outfield. In the fall season the Royals took a college tour through the Mid West where Forte was able to impress college coaches with not only his bat but his arm from right field. Parkland Coach Matt Kennedy is looking forward to adding Forte to an already explosive line up.
Coach Kennedy Says "we are very pleased to have Daniel joining our program here at Parkland. Daniel is a versatile player from the offensive side that will allow him to hit for both average and power and adds another dimension as he is a good base-runner. In the outfield he shows an above average arm and the ability to chase down the baseball".
Parkland has become a baseball power, being nationally ranked every year this decade and also going to the World Series four of the last eight seasons. In 2002 the cobras captured their first national championship in school history.

Matt Mallette Signs with Spoon River C.C
January 26, 2009. Matt Mallette of the Oakville Royals Baseball Club has decided to continue his education at Spoon River Community College. Matt joined the Royals in August and has been an impact player from the very start.
The commitment that Mallette has demonstrated is unparallel. Matt drives four hours round trip everyday from Collingwood for practices and games. The dedication that he has decided to put forth in baseball was evident from day one. Matt has been able to make fundamental changes that have helped him achieve his goal of becoming a College Baseball Player.
"Matt is a player that will make an impact in our middle infield starting in the fall. Matt fills the recruiting needs for our program and we look for big things out of him in the future" says Head Coach Robert Dotey.

Two Royals Sign with Lon Morris, Texas
April 2, 2009. It was announced today that two players from the Oakville Royals have committed to baseball scholarships at Lon Morris College in Texas. Peter Benvenuto a middle infielder from Mississauga and Zachary Lucas a pitcher from Newmarket are both first year players with the Royals.
Lon Moris head coach Josh Stewart is exciting about the recent signings. Coach Stewart said "Peter is the type of player that I have been looking for this winter, he will be competing for a spot in the middle of our infield and should hit in the top or our batting order. Zachary will add depth to our pitching staff and will have a chance to compete for a spot in our starting rotation"
Lon Morris College is a division 1 school that competes in Region 14 of the NJCAA. Karri Oksanen a Royal alumnus is currently playing CF for Lon Morris.

Vanderlaan Signs with NAIA Bethel College, Indiana
April 2, 2009. Mike Vanderlaan has decided to continue his education at NAIA Bethel College in Mishawaka Indiana. Mike is a Left handed pitcher that has been with the Oakville Royals for two seasons. Throughout Mike's career he has demonstrated the ability to throw all of his pitches for strikes and locate down in the strike zone.
Bethel College Head coach Seth Zartman is very excited about Mike joining the program. Coach Zartman said "Mike is the type of pitcher that has lots of promise and should get a lot of innings next season. Mike who stands at 6'4" is a left hander with great mound presence and has shown the ability to throw all of his pitches for strike. I am very pleased that he decided to become a pilot."
Bethel College located in Mishawaka Indiana is an NAIA school and competes in the Mid Central Conference.

Jacob Krane Signs with Heston College in Kansas
Jacob Krane, an outfielder/catcher from Georgetown, Ontario, has played four years of baseball with the Oakville Royals and has decided to continue his education at Hesston College in Kansas.
A multi-sport athlete, Krane played two years of high school basketball and several years with a travel hockey team. Krane also excels in the classroom, and is a Dean’s Scholarship recipient at Hesston College.
With the departure of Hesston sophomore outfielders Kirk Kelly and Derek Ebersole, Coach Art Mullet expects Krane to make an early contribution to the outfield mix this fall. “Jake will be a good fit here,” commented Mullet. “He’s a gifted outfielder with a good background of playing on a quality traveling summer program. He’s also a dedicated student, and will excel both athletically and academically.”
Vecchiarelli Signs at Lon Morris, Texas

June 2, 2009. It was announced today that another player from the Oakville Royals has committed to a baseball scholarship at Lon Morris College in Texas. Jordan Vecchiarelli from Newmarket plays Third Base and Outfield, Jordan is a first year players with the Royals.
Lon Moris head coach Josh Stewart is exciting about the recent signing. Coach Stewart said "Jordan will come in and compete for a job this fall, Jordan can play multiple positions and we are looking for a player just like him. I am excited at the chance to coach more players from the Royals.
Jordan will join to other players from Oakville at Lon Morris, Peter Benvenuto and Zach Lucas.

Dutkiewicz Signs with Pitt College in
North Carolina
June 12, 2009. Jake Dutkiewicz from Oakville Ontario has decided to continue his education at Pitt College in North Carolina. Jake a veteran member of the Royals has been manning the hot corner for four seasons. During his career with the Royals Dutkiewicz has demonstrated leadership both on an off the field.
Pitt Community College is an NJCAA division 1 School, this past season Pitt was ranked as high as number 6 in the nation. The Bulldogs finished with a record of 37-8, ending there season at the regional tournament. Head Coach Tommy Eason is looking forward to having Jake join the Bulldogs in 2010. Coach Eason said, "Jake has a very explosive bat and we are looking forward to adding him to the lineup". Jake is expected to battle for the third base job this fall.
The Royals facility has become a second home to Jake, he can be found hitting on his own in the cages three or four times a week. This season the Royals took on a new coaching staff and Jake was one of the players that made the transition easy for Coach Booth. Coach Booth says "Jake is one of those players that only comes around so often he is truly committed to his own development but also loves the Royals program."
