Each year the Royals Organization hands out two prestigious awards:
M.E.L Award (18U)
The M.E.L Award (Named after President and Founder of the Oakville Royals Baseball Club Mel Swinton) is given out to the 18U player who demonstrates Motivation, Excellence and Leadership throughout the season. With presentation of the M.E.L award comes a $1000 scholarship from the Royals Organization and the Cole Family (Former Royal Parents, son Shane Cole)
Sportsmanship Award (Discipline, Respect, Commitment, In Memory of Michael Kim)
The Sportsmanship award is in memory of Michael Kim who passed away in 2006 at the age of 16 in a tragic accident. Michael was in his first year with the Royals 16U team in 2006 and never had the chance to participate in first PBLO season. Read more, click here.
The award is handed out to the 16U Player who demonstrates Discipline, Respect and Commitment throughout their 16U season.
