*Weekend scores to be posted by Wednesday of following week*

Twelve games were slotted for the opening weekend which saw the organization get off to a great start.  Bearing cool temperatures and wind, the Royals found a way to stay hot and start the season on a positive note.

17U opened the start of the season on the road.  With a 9am start and frost on the ground, the Royals came out hot and took the opening game of the season Vs. the Southern Ontario Jays by a score of 12-5.  Game two of the double header saw the Royals lead for majority of the game but came out on the losing end 9-6.

The 16U were next on the schedule, which saw first game heroics on behalf of OF John Whaley.  With the opening game tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh with two outs, Sam Wight fought the pitcher down 0-2 to throw 13 pitches and reach base after being hit by a pitch.  Wight advanced via stolen base and wild pitch to third, where Whaley came up and hit a shot to the left center gap to end the game 4-3 in walk off fashion.  Game two saw great all around team effort, starting on the mound where Danny Roderick threw 5 complete with 9 k’s on route to a 11-1 win for the Blue and White.

18U started the weekend facing some freezing cold temperatures with a 6pm start under the lights at Glen Abbey park.  The first game saw the Royals battle back from being down to tie the ball game 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh and force extra innings.  The Royals came up short and lost the game in extra innings 17-6.  On the back end of the double dip the Royals fell short to tie the series and dropped game two by a score of 7-1.

#REPtheCROWN
The Oakville Royals Baseball Club would like to congratulate Kyle Kinsey and his family on accepting an offer to attend Oakton Community College (NJCAA) in Des Plaines, Illinois.

Kyle is entering his third season with the Royals and plays right field for the 18U Oakville Royals.

"Kyle has shown tremendous growth as an overall player throughout fall ball and our winter practice.  His physical stature as an outfielder along with his plus foot speed and above average arm strength is easy to see what attracted Oakton Community College and Coach Fratto to him.  I have great confidence that Kyle's focused work ethic and desire to succeed on and off the field will allow him to be successful at the highly competitive Oakton CC baseball program", said 18U Field Manager and College Placement Coordinator Mike Steed.

The Oakville Royals organizations would also like to thank Head Coach Bill Fratto and Oakton Community College for there support of the organization.

Mark Wilush of the Oakville Baseball Club has decided to continue his education at the University of Tampa an NCAA Division 2 school in Florida. The University of Tampa is currently ranked #2 in the nation and has traditionally been in the top 10 for the past many years.

Mark will be entering his second year with the Royals program and has been a mainstay on the pitching staff  for the Oakville Royals.  The 2012 will be no different as the 18U squad will look to Wilush to anchor a strong pitching staff for the Royals. On the Royals recent Spring Florida Trip Mark threw a one hitter against Waubonsee Community College, with members of the University of Tampa coaching staff in attendance.

"This is great accomplishment for the Royals baseball program with Mark committing to the University of Tampa but all the credit must go to Mark himself.  Over the last two years I have seen huge strides every time he takes the mound whether that be in a bullpen session or game action.  I am excited that Mark will be able to pursue his academic and athletic goals at one of the top institutions and programs in the US.  I believe that Mark's character and make up will allow Mark to progress and contribute in UT's nationally ranked program", said 18U Field Manager and College Placement Coordinator Mike Steed.

The University of Tampa play in the very competitive Sunshine State Conference, which some have called the "SEC of Division 2 Baseball".

The Oakville Royals Organization would like to congratulate Mark and his family on signing with the University of Tampa. The Royals organization would also like to thank Head Coach Joe Urso and the University of Tampa for there support of the organization.

The Blue & White Improve to 17-7 Combined Record
#WINtheSERIES
After a very successful opening weekend for the Royals Baseball Club going 8-4, the Crowns came out hot on the second weekend of the season.  The blue and white improved to 17-7 on the year after winning all 3 series 3-1.

The 16U squad was riding an undefeated record of 4-0 heading into the weekend Vs. Team Ontario.  Game one would see the Royals take the opening game of the series by a score of 4-3 with great starting pitching curtesy of Jason provost and an outstanding closing effort by RHP Derek Zwolinski. Combined with great team defence and timely offence, pushing across 4 runs to edge Team O in game one.  Game two of the double header was a close contest.  However due to Team O's manager being ejected in the top of the 5th and no other coach present, the Royals took the contest in a fore-fit by Team Ontario, by a score of 7-0.

The 17U team came out on top in game one of their weekend series Vs. the Nationals 18U club, beating them by a score of 2-0.  Nathan Haliday threw a complete game shutout for the Blue and White.  Game two saw another great pitching performance by Brendan Butrimas.  The Royals gave a little more run support and took the game by a score of 5-1.  Great team defence and timely hitting had the Royals firing on all cylinders.

The 18U club was looking to rebound from their opening weekend and build off of their series ending victory, and that they did!  The Sr. Blue and White took the opening game of the series Vs. Team O by a score of 3-2 with Mark Wilush throwing a complete game and the "Crowns" playing great team defence along with team execution on the offence.  Game two was much of the same as Adam Kaylor threw a complete game where the Royals would win by the same score 3-2, with another strong team effort on both sides of the ball.

The 16U & 18U teams will see mid week regular season action this week, as both clubs take on the Southern Ontario Jays.  The 17U will be in exhibition action Vs. the Ontario Blue Jays 18U club.
